David Sear

David A. Sear is an award-winning 2-D artist whose work is represented in private, corporate and museum collections. He draws inspiration from various sources: his favorite local watersheds; readings on mathematic proportions; and trips across the U.S. and abroad. As an Artist-in-Residence at Sweetwater County Community Fine Arts Center in Wyoming (September 2022) and at the Landis Art Residency through Yellowstone Forever (August 2020) in Yellowstone National Park, he was able to experience completely different landscapes from those of the Upper Midwest. He looks forward to continuing this exploration at the Taft-Nicholson Center in September 2024.

An important formative art experience during his undergraduate studies was a visiting artist program: the Master Workshop in Art, at Southampton Campus (L.I.U). There he met established artists such as Audrey Flack, Miriam Schapiro, Eric Fischl, Roy Lichtenstein, Larry Rivers, and many others. He holds an M.F.A. from Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus and a B.F.A. from Clarke University, Dubuque, IA.
Sear sells his artwork nation-wide on the art festival circuit and through art galleries. Currently, he has an artwork on display in “The Life of Water” juried exhibition at the Cedarburg Art Museum in Wisconsin. His home studio is in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
